RESEARCHERS at an East End university have been hosting experts from across Europe this week to tackle the health dangers of noise pollution.
Queen Mary University in Mile End has been awarded a one million euro grant to bring together researchers from 10 countries who will be sharing their knowledge about excess noise.
The effects of noise on blood pressure, sleep, mental health and the immune system will be at the top of the agenda during a series of meetings held in London.
And the new team will be led by Professor Stephen Stansfeld and Dr Charlotte Clark who recently revealed that children exposed to aircraft noise suffered reading difficulties and impaired memory.
Queen Mary won the award from the EU's Seventh Framework Programme of Research.
