Premier League youngster joins League Two club on deal

Leyton Orient have completed the loan signing of Crystal Palace left-back Jerome Binnom-Williams on a deal until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old is the third piece of incoming business the League Two club have done on the final day of the winter transfer window.

Kevin Nolan’s side had already agreed a deal to bring experienced defender Nicky Hunt to Brisbane Road and extended Calaum Jahraldo-Martin’s loan from Hull City.

And now they have added the Eagles talented full back to complete a busy day for the O’s.

Binnom-Williams is the third defender to have joined Orient this month alongside Shaun Brisley, from Peterborough, and Hunt’s capture earlier in the day.

His arrival comes after Queens Park Rangers decided to cut short Cole Kpekawa’s loan with the League Two outfit this afternoon.

Kpekawa had been competing with Frazer Shaw for the left-back role, and it is believed Binnom-Williams’ arrival will compensate for his departure back to his parent club.

The young defender joins Orient and comes with good pedigree, having impressed with Southend United last season in the fourth tier of English football, and made two appearances for the south Londoners.

Eagles allowed the former England under-19 international to join League One side Burton Albion on a season-long loan in July.

He initially impressed with the Brewers, but after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink departed to join QPR, the Palace man failed to feature under Nigel Clough.

Therefore the Premier League side recalled Binnom-Williams last month and have now sent him to the east Londoners for the rest of the campaign.

It means Nolan has what he wanted, competition for places all over the field, and especially in defence ahead of the business end of the season.
