A look at the other winners of the monthly prize and how they have fared after claiming the prize

Leyton Orient player-manager Kevin Nolan has missed out on the Sky Bet League Two manager of the month award for February.

Northampton Town boss Chris Wilder claimed the gong after winning five of the six matches they played during the month – including a 4-0 thrashing over the O’s.

The top of the table outfit have given their manager his third Sky Bet award of the campaign after he won it in November and January as well.

But despite missing out on the prize, it is not all bad news for the east Londoners and their relatively new boss.

A closer look at the previous winners of the gong shows that failing to win isn’t always a negative.

Orient supporters will be well aware of what occurred when Ian Hendon claimed the award after a stunning start to the season in August.

The now sacked head coach failed to pick up any victories during September and other winners of the honour have followed a similar fate.

Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman picked it up in September and the following month suffered defeats to Oxford United, Plymouth Argyle and AFC Wimbledon.

When Argyle boss Derek Adams claimed the award for October, his team went off the boil as well – albeit not in the division too much.

They started November with a loss against Carlisle United in the FA Cup and a 5-3 reverse at home to Millwall in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Adams’ men were also beaten by local rivals Exeter City and drew with struggling Dagenham & Redbridge during the month – not the best of results.

Even when Wilder claimed the award for the first time following an excellent November, his impressive side suffered a slight wobble.

Cobblers began December with a nervy 3-2 win over Northwich Victoria in the FA Cup, but were trailing the non-league side by two goals until late on.

They were also beaten 2-1 by Portsmouth during the month to show that even the best can become complacent after picking up the prize.

Shaun Derry was given the gong for an outstanding December, but began 2016 by suffering a 4-1 thrashing at home to Wimbledon.

Crawley Town beat them next while they could only draw with Luton Town and Hartlepool United before finally getting all three points against… Orient, of course!

Wilder was to get the award next for a fine January and although he has appeared to break the curse, by winning it for a consecutive month now, it could just be put down to the fact that Northampton are the best in the division.

Orient may still lose to Oxford on Saturday, but nobody can turn around and say it was because Nolan won the manager of the month prize.
