Brisbane Road boss hoping to keep up momentum in their promotion push

Leyton Orient player-manager Kevin Nolan wants to make the long trip up to Carlisle United today (Tuesday) worthwhile by getting another three points.

The O’s staff, players and fans have to endure a midweek journey to Brunton Park thanks to the League Two fixture list.

But the return home to east London will be all the sweeter if they have achieved a third consecutive victory.

After success against Notts County and Crawley Town recently, the Brisbane Road outfit want to triumph at the Cumbrians tonight.

“They are all big games and we said it is a 13-match league and we have to make sure come the end of it we are on top of that,” said Nolan.

“We have 52 points now and I’ll be looking more at the table when we get in and around the final weeks.

“At this moment in time I am very pleased with the last two results and hopefully we can continue this form against Carlisle.

“It is going to be a tough game, we know that, but we will go there with lots of confidence and hopefully we will come back with three points.”

Orient’s player-manager acknowledged the need to build more momentum despite the long trip to Brunton Park – over 300 miles away from Brisbane Road.

Jobi McAnuff missed the clash with Crawley on Saturday with an ankle injury, but his team mates still picked up a 2-0 win.

Armand Gnanduillet scored twice and the O’s boss confirmed he plans to use his squad this evening.

Nolan added: “We need to go on a run now and we turn our thoughts immediately to Carlisle because that is the most important thing.

“We are hoping Jobi will be back amongst it and we’ll have a fully fit squad to travel up there, but there probably will be a few changes anyway.

“Saturday would have taken a lot out of the lads. I am delighted with the performance and I think with the squad I have at my disposal, I need to use it.”

At the weekend Sammy Moore delivered an excellent display at left midfield before he was substituted in the 76th minute.

Calaum Jahraldo-Martin replaced him and looked lively in his short cameo against the Reds - nearly scoring twice.

But the former AFC Wimbledon man should be fit to feature at Brunton Park, Nolan added: “Sammy’s substitution was more precautionary, he just had a bit of a tight groin.

“When you have someone like Calaum on the bench – you have to make sure you use him and he was 100 per cent waiting to get out there.

“He come on and did really well, showed what he can do and gave us another dimension so that’s fantastic. It just makes my job harder, but that’s just what I want.”
