Brisbane Road boss keen players to respond positively at Bootham Crescent this weekend

Leyton Orient player-manager Kevin Nolan admits everybody at the club is determined to right the wrongs of the Easter weekend.

It was hoped the O’s would be able to achieve positive results against Accrington Stanley and Hartlepool United.

If they had managed that it would have resurrected their chances of automatic promotion, but it wasn’t the case.

A 1-0 defeat at Crown Ground on Good Friday was a huge dent and then the 2-0 loss to Hartlepool United on Monday rubbed salt in the wounds.

But the east Londoners travel to struggling York City tomorrow (Saturday) looking to put it all behind them.

“It won’t be difficult to raise the players because there was a lot of sad and disappointed faces in the changing room after Monday,” said Nolan.

“I think if the lads could have gone out on Tuesday and played, I’m sure they would have done. We will look forward to hopefully erasing these memories from a miserable Easter weekend at York.

“Hopefully we can get on a run, it is going to be difficult because we are against a lot of teams down the bottom, but we have certainly got winnable games.”

The 33-year-old believes Orient need to stick together for the final seven matches of the campaign.

Wycombe Wanderers currently occupy the final play-off spot, but only by two points going into the weekend.

O’s supporters showed their frustration at Brisbane Road on Monday and cheered when their player-manager was substituted.

Nolan believes they will have more happy days than bad ones, adding: “I think patience is the key. The fans will obviously show their anger.

“There is nobody angrier than me when I put in a performance like that and we come off having not done what I’ve asked the players to do.

“We were all in it together and I think that is how we should stay, but I know people react in certain ways and they have a right of an opinion.

“But we can only hope we can turn it around for them so they have some great days and go home happy. I think on Monday they had a right to be angry.

“No disrespect to Hartlepool, but we are at home and should be beating teams like this if we have ambitions to get out of this league and into the play-offs.”

Orient need to back up those aims by beating York this weekend.
