The Bishopsgate Institute, one of the City of London’s renowned archive collections, is now open to the public on Saturdays for the first time, from 10am to 5.30pm.
But staff are having to end the late Wednesday evenings and close early Friday afternoon to cover the Saturday session.
The shift is aimed at helping students researching East End heritage and history who can’t get to the library and archives during the week. New weekday opening hours are Monday to Thursday 10am-5.30pm, Friday 10am-2pm.
