Shoppers don’t have to get out of their cars any more with London’s first drive-through supermarket in the East End.

A new grocery pick-up for motorists has just been introduced at Tesco’s Bromley-by-Bow store on the A12 Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach road.

Staff at the store in Hancock Road, off the Bow Roundabout, put the pre-ordered groceries straight in the boot, so customers don’t even have to get out of the car.

“This will be popular with mums on the school run,” said the company’s online marketing director Ian Crook. “They don’t have the bother of a busy store with children in tow or having to stay in for a delivery.”

Shoppers order and pay online, then drive to the collection point after booking a two-hour slot to pick-up their groceries.
