THOUSANDS of paper airplanes are expected to take off over the skies of East London tomorrow (Thursday).
The models are being launched in a flight-of-fancy contest to select winners to go on to the world finals of Red Bull's 2009 'Paper Wings' competition in May.
They take off at the student gym at Queen Mary's London University Mile End campus in three categories, for longest airtime, longest distance and for acrobatics.
But organisers have a word of warning: "The goal is to fly-not to land!"
Students have the chance to take part by using their university ID cards as a 'license to fly'.
