THE public are getting a say in what happens to the 2012 Olympics site in East London after the Games.
The Olympic Park is being transformed immediately after the Games when the temporary structures are taken down as work begins to convert the permanent venues for East London’s promised legacy.’
This includes the athletes’ village adapted for permanent housing and the parkland turned over as public open spaces.
The Olympics authority is holding three public consultation events over the next 10 days for residents of Tower Hamlets and neighbouring Hackney and Newham, three of the host’ boroughs, to see what the communities think about the proposals before formal planning applications are lodged next month.
The first is the Hackney event this coming Tuesday (Nov-17) in Hackney Wick Old Baths at 80 Eastway, from 12noon to 8pm. It is followed the next day (Wednesday) by the Tower Hamlets event staged at H Forman’s smoked-salmon plant in Stour Road, Old Ford, 12-8pm, and the following Tuesday (Nov 24) by the Newham event at Chandos community centre at Colgrave Road in Stratford, 12-8pm.
