Brisbane Road boss full of praise for Peter Ramage and discusses Alan Dunne’s future

Leyton Orient player-manager Kevin Nolan is hoping to see his team improve in front of goal over the coming weeks.

The O’s earned a 1-0 win at home to Morecambe this afternoon thanks to an own-goal nine minutes from time.

Jerome Binnom-Williams wicked cross caused problems in the away box and it resulted in Ryan Edwards scoring past substitute goalkeeper Kieron O’Hara.

O’Hara had been outstanding up to that point and the Manchester United loanee had saved a first half penalty from Jay Simpson.

“You are expecting Jay from 12-yards to nine times out of 10 put it in and I thought the goalkeeper did fantastically well to get it over the crossbar,” said Nolan.

“Give some credit to him, but yes disappointed for Jay. He will be disappointed not to add to his tally and we got out of it thanks to a fantastic ball by Jerome.

“It caused them a bit of trouble in defence and we ended up with an own goal. I think it sums up what we are about at the moment. We can’t finish teams off and that is what we have got to learn to do.

“We are working hard on the training ground with lots of crossing and finishing, hopefully in the coming weeks we’ll start seeing the ball hit the back of the net a few more times.”

Peter Ramage made his Orient debut after signing on-loan from League One side Coventry City on Thursday.

Nolan praised his display and believes he will prove to be a crucial signing for the League Two outfit.

He added: “I was very pleased with ‘Rambo’ and he’s a great lad. I’ve known a lot of people that he knows for a long time. I knew exactly what I was getting with him, I’m delighted that he wanted to come and that’s the main thing with it.

“I’ve spoken so many times about that with all the signing we’ve brought in since January. You want them to play football here and he did.

“You’ve seen with his performance today that he will be a fantastic addition to an already good squad.”

Alan Dunne wasn’t included in the match day squad and was actually at former club Millwall.

The 33-year-old was signing copies of his new book ‘Dunne It The Hard Way’ outside the Den and Nolan discussed his future.

“Well ‘Dunney’ hasn’t featured since I’ve come in. He had a couple of injuries so weren’t in the squad and I’ve been fair to him,” said the Orient boss.

“I’ve said I want him around the lads and he’s been training with us on a weekly basis. What happens now is, I think he has a year left, so we’ll sit down at the end of the season with the chairman and him to decide what way to go forward.”
