Forward looks ahead to Hartlepool United trip and ask O’s fans to keep up their support
Ollie Palmer has backed Leyton Orient captain Robbie Weir to start showing the fans his quality after a difficult start to life at Brisbane Road for the Northern Irish midfielder.
It has been a frustrating few months for the ex-Burton Albion ace and it was compounded when he received a red card inside the first minute of a 2-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle on September 27.
His suspension in League Two is over now and he will link up with the O’s squad for Saturday’s match at Hartlepool United.
“Robbie is our captain so he’s a very important part of the team and is very good around the dressing room and on the training pitch,” said Palmer.

“He is a very good professional and I know he’s said he has been disappointed with his performances, but we all see what he does day in, day out.
“We know what he is capable of and not that they haven’t, but I’d just say to the fans stay backing us because we really appreciate it and we’re going to turn it around for you.”

Orient have a chance to show they can walk the walk this weekend at Hartlepool and need too.
Alberto Cavasin’s team are only outside of the bottom two on goal difference and could certainly do with a result at Victoria Park.
What is encouraging, perhaps, is the Monkey Hangers form at home this season – no victory in the seven matches they’ve played there in all competitions.
Palmer added: “We do need to get that three points and hopefully we’ll go to Hartlepool and get it. We want to try and put the pressure on them, make them crumble and come away with the win.”
Although the O’s were beaten again last weekend – this time 2-1 to Luton Town at Brisbane Road – a small positive was seeing them score!
Palmer found the net and it was the first time Orient had scored since Paul McCallum’s header at Notts County on September 24.
“It has obviously been a few games since we’ve scored so my goal will boost the team,” said the ex-Mansfield Town striker.
“Winning would have been even better and it is disappointing. The boys were down after the game. We have just got to regroup and put it right at Hartlepool.”
