IMAGES have been released this week revealing the progress being made on tower block homes at the Olympic Village.

The photographs released by the Olympic Delivery Authority yesterday show that blocks of flats, on three out of eleven residential plots, are now structurally complete.

Each plot will be made up of six to eight blocks built in a rectangular layout around a traditional courtyard area.

Work will now begin on the external cladding of the buildings allowing internal fittings to be put in later this year.

The village next to the Olympic Park will accommodate athletes and officials during the 2012 Olympics. After the Games the village will provide 2,800 homes. Nearly 1,380 of these will be so-called affordable homes.

Construction is also underway on the remaining eight residential plots. More than 2,800 people now work at the Olympic Village site.
