More than a-thousand runners are expected to take part in British Heart Foundation’s latest fundraising run being staged on Mothering Sunday at east London’s Olympic Park.

The 5k or 10K route around the iconic park on March 26 is raising cash for the charity’s heart research.

Volunteers brought in £70,000 last year, which went towards research into better understand how to prevent, diagnose and treat heart and circulatory disease—the cause of more than a quarter of all deaths in the UK.

“The challenging Olympic Park run helps save lives supporting the nation’s heart charity,” event organiser Leanne Postlethwaite said.

“Every step runners take helps bring us closer to beating heart disease for good. Our research has already helped halve death rates over the past 50 years, but there is still so much more to be done to help us stop heart disease in its tracks.”

The British Heart Foundation Mothers’ Day fun includes giving away small gifts to all the mums who are taking part or just watching from the trackside.
