The View Tube in Newham became London’s unlikeliest tourist attraction by welcoming their 100,000th visitor since opening in 2009.
Run by Leaside Regeneration it boasts panoramic views of the Olympic Park. The venue has a caf�, arts and information spaces, and a magnificent viewing platform joining residents and visitors at the one and only community place to see the park taking shape.
As one of the funding bodies behind the project John Middleton, head of economic development at London Thames Gateway Development Corporation said: ‘I’m not it’s a success. It’s giving the community and visitors from all over the world the opportunity to see the Olympic Park take shape and feel part of the progress being made”
Nigel King the 100,000th visitor said: “I come here to chill out, the atmosphere is unusual; you’ve got the excitement of watching the changes on the site, coupled with local artists working up here”.
