A NEW 'polyclinic of the future' for the 2012 Olympics village has been given the go-ahead in East London.
The centre will be used by athletes from around the world during the Games.
But afterwards it is to be at the heart of a new prestigious 'village' development providing all-round healthcare for existing communities at Stratford and 3,000 new households after 2012.
The four-storey centre, which has been granted planning permission this week, is to be located on the eastern edge of the Village for easy access for the existing community at Stratford.
It will include primary NHS care, GP surgeries, physiotherapy services, a children's clinic and diagnostic facilities such as X-ray and ultrasound, dentists and opticians. Also planned is a gym, youth centre, café and meeting space.
