Open House London 2018: A guide to participating buildings in Tower Hamlets

Historic, innovative and quirky buildings across Tower Hamlets are set to open their doors for one weekend only as part of Open House London.
The annual festival of architecture, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, will allow free access to buildings, some of which are normally closed to the public or charge for entry.
Among the borough’s highlights are community centre Kingsley Hall, which is open between 11am and 6pm on Saturday with hourly tours, and the former Limehouse town hall, which is open between 12pm and 5pm both days.
Canary Wharf’s One Canada Square will be offering tours of its Level 39 venue between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, while the Museum of London Docklands wil be running tours between 11am and 4.30pm both days.
Several places of worship feature on the borough’s list of participating buildings, including the Sandys Row Synagogue, open between 11am and 4pm on Sunday.

St Bonifatius RC German Church, which was built in 1960, will be open between 10am and 5pm on Saturday, while those preferring more historical churches can visit St Dunstan and All Saints - a site which has been used for worship since 952 AD - between 10am and 5pm on Saturday and 1pm and 5pm on Sunday.
Other buildings taking part include the Thames River Police site in Wapping, which can be visited between 11am and 5pm both days, and Wilton’s Music Hall, which was built in 1859 and is billed as the oldest grand music hall in the world, and is open between 10am and 1pm on Saturday.

Director of Open City, Rory Olcayto, said: “Open House is shining a light on the places shaping the capital with striking landmark buildings and new approaches to town planning.”
The Open House London scheme has been running since 1992 and now offers access to more than 800 buildings, tours and talks across the capital for one weekend each year.

Pre-booking is essential for some locations and tours, while other tours are first come first served with limited spaces.
