Orient goalkeeper Brill says the spirit is high in the squad

Leyton Orient goalkeeper Dean Brill says the mood is high in the camp after going nine games unbeaten to start the new season.
The 32-year-old shot stopper believes the spirit has been good since day one as the club didn’t make wholesale changes during the summer after last season’s mid-table finish in the National League.
He is pleased the club’s backed the squad as he feels continuity is vital to building a winning team.
“The mood was good before the season, the mood was good two games in, the mood has been good throughout,” Brill said.
“It’s a good group and we know each other, which is really key, a lot of teams there has been a lot of turnover and that happens at a lot of clubs.

“We’re lucky and fortunate enough to keep the same players, who are very good players, and we’ve got a really strong squad with some players not even getting in the squad now.”
The experienced goalkeeper is pleased that the squad in front of him has stayed the same for the last five matches as they’re building chemistry.

“Continuity is massive, if you look at any team that wins things, playing, getting partnerships and understandings is key especially when times get tough on the pitch.
“You know what your man next to you is doing and that helps so like I said we’re blessed really to have had the club back us in the summer and not make wholesale changes.”
He praised the squad’s efforts after picking up their third clean sheet in the 3-0 win against Solihull Moors and says they must now keep working to not let their nine game unbeaten run slip.
“Three in three, we didn’t start the season great with clean sheets, we were defending ok but obviously the clean sheets help and in house we’ve got our targets and we’ll be looking to achieve more.
“We keep saying don’t let it go, not many of us have been nine games unbeaten in our career, so we’re now fighting to stay unbeaten.”
The O’s now go into a match against Halifax and Brill says they know it will be another tough test but insists they’ll be ready.
“It’s going to be a tough game, they’ve started really well and it’s always a tough game when you go up north, but we’ll recover right and be ready to go again Saturday.
“I think we know as a team we’re fit and we’re strong and we’re tending to come strong late in games which bodes well going forward as if we can keep that momentum teams will be wary of us in the later stages.”
