The O’s are hoping to get back to winning ways against Oxford United this weekend

Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon is confident he has the ammunition in his squad to beat Oxford United tomorrow (Saturday) at Brisbane Road.

The Yellows make the trip to east London in good form with four victories from their past four matches and no defeat since September 12.

But the O’s have the leading marksmen in the division in Jay Simpson, who has nine goals to his name already this season.

Hendon knows what to expect this weekend and although he appreciates it will be a difficult match, he is backing his men to come out on top.

“Oxford are a good side, they go 4-4-2 and have two wingers with a bit of trickery and pace and goals in them to be fair,” said the Orient boss.

“The two lads they have up front work their socks off for the team so we know we are going to be in for a tough game.

“They have a couple of experienced players at the back as well so all around they are not a bad side so it will be a test, but I have confidence in my team and players.

“I think the way we have been we can go out and firstly compete and we have the ammunition to win the game too.”

Orient’s problem in recent weeks has been not taking the chances they have been creating and then conceding sloppy goals at the other end.

That has led to some knee-jerk reaction among a small section of supporters, but Hendon is confident everybody will be roaring the O’s on tomorrow when the Yellows come to E10.

He is also certain the Brisbane Road outfit will get the balance right between attack and defence.

“We are two points behind Oxford, outside of the automatic places and we are going alright,” said Hendon. “I think we just need to find the balance between attacking and defending because we do create a lot of chances in games, but we just need to shut the back door.

“I am sure the fans will be roaring us on and I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t. The disappointment has been a few of the away games that we have drawn and then obviously last week we got beat at Crawley, but going back home we should be full of confidence and I am sure the players will be come Saturday.”
