Brisbane Road boss hoping O’s can continue their decent form on the road and talks international call-ups

Leyton Orient travel to Crawley Town this weekend with head coach Ian Hendon looking for his side to continue their decent form on the road at Broadfield Stadium.

Although the O’s were beaten 4-0 by Exeter at St James Park at the start of September, they have bounced back and picked up creditable points at Cambridge United and Northampton Town.

They have also beaten the likes of Dagenham & Redbridge and Newport County this year in League Two and would like to add the Red Devils to that list on Saturday.

But the Orient boss insists if his side carry on picking up points on the road he’ll be happy.

Hendon said: “You win your home games and pick up what you can away. I am not going to say we are going to go there and beat Crawley.

“We are going to try to do that, but if we go there and get something from the game then I will be happy.”

The Red Devils will be without four players on Saturday due to international call-ups – having three players away would usually mean a postponement – but the fixture is still going ahead as two of them are on loan.

Freddie Woodman is on loan from Newcastle United and away with England under-19s and Liam Donnelly, of Fulham, is with Northern Ireland under-19s.

Josh Yorwerth and Shamir Fenelon, both permanent Crawley players, are out of the game because they are away with Wales and Republic of Ireland’s under-21 respectively.

The Red Devils did initially call the clash with the O’s off, but it was quickly back on and Hendon is pleased about that.

He also confirmed goalkeeper Alex Cisak is available for the match despite being away with the Australian national team this week.

“Alex is back before the Crawley game. I think he comes in Friday, but I am sure he will be fine,” added Hendon.

“I don’t know what went on with Crawley’s international players, at one stage I was told they had quite a few in the squad so the game was off and then I got a phone call an hour later saying it was back on.

“We had an inkling it could be called off, but we want to play the games. We don’t want a backlog of fixtures anywhere and having to play midweek and Saturday, Tuesday so we want to get these games played.”
