Brisbane Road boss talks Luton, what was said after the Oxford draw and his midfield options

Leyton Orient believe their late comeback against Oxford United on Saturday can be the start of another good run of results, according to head coach Ian Hendon.

The O’s make the trip to Kenilworth Road this evening to face Luton Town in League Two looking to build some momentum.

Scott Kashket scored in the first minute of injury time at the weekend to salvage a 2-2 draw with the Yellows at Brisbane Road.

Now the east Londoners are hoping it can be the start of a strong run of form, but that will only be the case if they pick up a positive result against the Hatters.

“Luton lost at Crawley Town on Saturday and it will be a tough game against John Still’s side as always, but we are looking forward to it,” said Hendon.

“Kevin Nugent said in the dressing room after the Oxford game we have to take this result and this point could be the pivotal one.

“We have come back from the dead, nobody expected us to. Fair play to the crowd we got what we deserved at half time, a few boos, that is the first time I have really heard that, especially at Brisbane Road.

“But second half they were on their feet and cheering as we come off. Obviously we want to win games, we don’t want draws, we want to win games of football, but we were as disappointed as the fans at half time and as elated as we came off.”

Jack Payne and Ollie Palmer played a key part in helping the O’s pick up a point, but the forward is expected to remain on the substitutes bench this evening.

The Peterborough United loanee should return to the start team, however, and Hendon discussed the options available to him in midfield.

He said: “Ollie and Jack were excellent second half and you have seen how we have finished the game.

“Jack has gone in there and controlled it. He has got us playing and it was a difficult decision to leave him out because him, Sammy Moore and Bradley Pritchard have done nothing wrong.

“Even Lloyd James when he played at the start of the season did nothing wrong, it is just we have got four good central midfield players and someone had to miss out.”

It isn’t known who will miss out tonight, but Payne has to start after Saturday.
