The Paralympic Torch Relay continues to run late, and is now not expected to arrive in Tower Hamlets until nearly 7pm.

The torch has been passing through London throughout the day, and was scheduled to arrive in Tower Hamlets at around 4.50pm this afternoon (Wednesday), on its way to the Olympic Stadium this evening for the opening ceremony.

However, LOCOG has confirmed that the relay continues to run behind schedule, and is unlikely to reach the Isle of Dogs until 6.50pm at the earliest.

The Torch’s first stop in Tower Hamlets will be Ferry Street on the Isle of Dogs. It will then continue its route through the Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf.

A back-up flame is available in the increasingly likely event that the torch doesn’t reach the stadium within the time scheduled ahead of tonight’s opening ceremony.
