RESCUE workers treated a man who fell under a DLR train at Poplar station during Monday evening's rush-hour.

The man, in his 40s, fell between the carriages of the driverless train from the westbound platform at 5.15pm.

Horrified commuters raised the alarm and the power on the track was cut.

Air ambulance paramedics treated the man for head and spine injuries before he was taken to the Royal London Hospital at Whitechapel, where he was detained.

The westbound service to Tower Gateway and Bank was suspended during the rescue while eastbound trains to Stratford were not stopping. The station reopened after an hour.
