PATIENTS are being urged by hospital bosses in East London to donate their organs through the internet.
They have started a drive this week at the London Independent Hospital in Stepney Green as part of a national campaign to get more potential donors to add their photos to an interactive mosaic’ on a wall of life’ website as soon as they sign up to register.
Around 60,000 of the tiny photos are designed to create a bigger image of two-year-old Louisa McGregor-Smith, who received a life-saving heart transplant when she was just five months old.
The BMI hospital is putting up posters and handing out leaflets this week encouraging staff and patients to join the online mosaic, to help 8,000 patients in Britain said to be needing organ transplants.
