Talented striker has come a long way since the last meeting between the two League Two teams back in May

The last time Leyton Orient played Yeovil Town, O’s forward Paul McCallum was just determined to get on the pitch.

His aims this time around are much different now he is back to full fitness after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage in September last year.

The Glovers will make the trip to Brisbane Road tomorrow (Saturday) and face an in-form McCallum, who has netted five times in six appearances this season.

He only scored three goals during a frustrating 2015/16 campaign, which saw him spend most of his time doing rehab.

It ended with a short cameo at Huish Park on May 7 – his first competitive appearance for O’s in over seven months.

But when the ex-Dulwich Hamlet striker faces the Somerset outfit this weekend, he will have bigger objectives than just getting on the pitch.

“Last year my end of season goal was to make sure I was ready to play in the Yeovil game,” said McCallum.

“We’ve got them this week now and we just need to make sure we get the three points and sort out that home form.”

Orient’s recent results at Brisbane Road have not been too impressive with defeats already in E10 to Newport County and Mansfield Town in League Two as well as Fulham in the English Football League Cup.

They have defeated Stevenage twice, once in the division and in the EFL Trophy last time out.

Andy Hessenthaler’s team will look to build on that and make Brisbane Road more of a fortress going forward.

“Of course we’ll pick the home form up, it is just frustrating because we want to do so well in front of our fans,” said McCallum.

“I think that affects you a bit sometimes, but we’re all confident we are going to start picking up three points at home on a regular basis and that should start on Saturday.”

The O’s chances of claiming a victory in east London may depend on how McCallum and Jordan Bowery get on.

Both have played a crucial role in helping Orient put together a small run of three games without defeat.

McCallum added: “Me and Jordan just need to keep playing together, that is the main thing because already we understand what each one of us is going to be doing.

“I think that is ideal if you want to score goals, to have two strikers working with each other. I believe me and him are working very well.”
