Animal lovers and future vets were invited behind the scenes at the PDSA’s PetAid hospital in Bow this weekend to celebrate the organisation’s 95th anniversary.

The surgery, in Malmesbury Road, treats almost 200 animals every working day, with a total of 92,500 animals treated every year.

The tours gave visitors the unique opportunity to see the operating theatres and kennels in which animals are treated on a daily basis. The money raised on the day went towards meeting the annual 1.5m bill of running the hospital.

The event, which was held between 12.30 and 3.30 on Saturday afternoon, also allowed owners to have their pets micro-chipped for a discount price of 16.
