Old Spitalfields Market is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year with a series of snaps depicting the area.

Photographer Peter Marlow has been commissioned to shoot the pictures for a new book, which the historic market’s owners hope will bring its unique architecture and atmosphere to life.

The book, called ‘Undercover Spitalfields: Market Stories’, is set to be published in May and will also feature text from architectural critic Jonathan Glancey.

More than 20,000 people visit the market on an average Sunday, with stalls trading seven days a week.

It was originally completed in 1893, but has now grown into a haven of fashion designers and other creative companies.
