League Two leaders visit Brisbane Road having won 3-1 in east London last season in similar circumstances

Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams knows roughly what to expect from Leyton Orient tonight despite the departure of Andy Hessenthaler this week.

The former Gillingham boss was dismissed yesterday after suffering five defeats out of 11 in all competitions this season.

Andy Edwards has stepped up in the interim to take the reins with tonight’s clash against the Green Army his first in charge.

Plymouth are top of the table with 19 points from their first nine games while the O’s sit 14th on just 11 points.

“We’ll have to wait and see to see if there is going to be any changes in the team from the weekend,” Adams told the official club website.

“It is difficult to say because you don’t know what the thinking is. They have a big pool of players to choose from, but we’ll have a better idea just before kick-off. They are one of the big hitters in the league and that comes with extra pressure. We know roughly how Leyton Orient are going to play.

“They are a team that doesn’t differ much from season to season. We’ll have to deal with a lot of long balls into the penalty area, which we did last time, and we did exceptionally well on the counter attack.”

When Plymouth last visited Brisbane Road on April 19, Orient had just got rid of another manager. Kevin Nolan had just been relieved of his managerial duties and Hessenthaler was in charge.

Argyle showed their class and won 3-1 with Jake Jervis scoring twice after Peter Hartley’s opener. Lloyd James pulled one back for O’s to make it 2-1 late on, but the visitors run out deserved winners.

“We come off a very good victory there last time. We’ve probably had better performances, but it was a good victory for us. It was a good night,” said Adams.

“It is a nice venue to go to; a beautiful stadium, and the playing surface will be in top condition.”

Orient’s form at Brisbane Road has been poor this season and tonight looks set to be another tough test.
