POLICE have been called to an incident involving a gang of youths thought to have rampaged through a supermarket store in East London tonight.
Officers are taking statements from witnesses at the moment (6pm) outside Budgen’s Whitechapel branch.
Shutters have been damaged, bottles smashed and food hurled from the shelves inside the store in the Whitechapel Road, opposite the Royal London Hospital, when the disturbance erupted at 5.40pm.
It may have begun when the youths were challenged by security staff, according to police sources.
