COPS are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted on a Central Line train between Bethnal Green and Mile End stations.

Detectives are also looking to identify a man, pictured in a photograph taken by a passenger, in connection with the incident.

The assault took place around 7.50pm on Thursday, November 26 last year on an eastbound train from Mile End.

Det Cons Thanh Ly, from BTP's Public Protection Unit, said: "The victim, a 31-year-old, was standing in a busy carriage at Bethnal Green she felt someone touch her inappropriately.

"The man then left the train at Mile End and boarded an eastbound Hammersmith and City line train towards Barking."

The victim continued her journey, before reporting the incident to police.

DC Ly added: "This was a very distressing and intimidating experience for the victim, who was put in a frightening situation.

"This sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable. We've conducted a number of local enquiries into this incident and I am asking anyone with any information, or who recognises the man in the photograph to get in contact."
