POLICE are looking for the driver and passengers who fled from a crash when the car they were travelling in smashed into a lamp-post in East London last night.
The Mercedes careered out of control across the busy A11 Bow Road, outside Bow Road Underground station, causing traffic hold-ups.
They managed to scramble out—then ran off before emergency services arrived. Police were unable to find them.
The front of the Merc was smashed in, leaking oil and flammable petrol onto the road which had to be made safe by a fire crew. No other vehicle was involved.
