POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a hit-and-run incident in which a 72-year-old retired security guard from the Tower of London was killed.

Daniel Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene at Bethnal Green, in the East End of London, at 6.55pm last Thursday.

He died from sever head and chest injuries, a post mortem at Poplar revealed this morning (Monday).

Neighbours from Stepney’s Peabody Buildings in John Fisher Street, where he lived, spoke of him this evening as a warm personality who loved life.

Now police are looking for the driver who ended Daniel’s life in Wilmott Street, Bethnal Green.

They are examining CCTV footage from three cameras. The silver Volvo S40 did not stop at the scene and continued northward along Wilmott Street into Bethnal Green Road, said police.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses who were in the area just before 5pm on November 6 or anyone with information about the incident to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath on 020-8597 4874, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
