Detectives are hunting a sex attack suspect in London’s East End who they said was caught on CCTV grabbing a woman entering a block of flats at Whitechapel.

They have released images today from the footage recorded in the middle of the night last Thursday-Friday.

The man approached the woman from behind as she waited to get into the building in Old Castle Street, off Whitechapel High Street, at 12.30am on Friday.

He tried to drag her away, but she screamed for help and he ran off, Scotland Yard confirmed.

The man, wearing a long black woollen overcoat, is described as Chinese in appearance, mid-20s, 5ft 9ins tall, slim build with black hair.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to call 101, with image reference 194162, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
