A rapist is being hunted in London’s East End after a teenage girl was attacked in broad daylight in the street near a children’s play park.

Detectives from the Met’s Sexual Offences Command are investigating the incident at around 3.30pm on Friday at Damien Street, off Cavell Street in Whitechapel.

The girl has since been seen by specialist support services following her ordeal.

Police are looking for a suspect described as Asian, with a moustache and aged about 20, who was wearing a red Nike cap, black jacket, white T-shirt, blue jeans and black Nike ‘Air Force’ trainers, Scotland Yard confirmed last night.

They are appealing for anyone who has information or may have seen or heard anything suspicious in or around Damien Street, close to Ford Square open space, is being asked to call the Sexual Offences Command on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111 or online at
