Detectives today are looking for a man identified in a clip seen on social media allegedly causing criminal damage 10 years ago to a CCTV camera in east London.
Scotland Yard has issued an image from footage recorded in 2006 of the man police want to question over an incident when cameras stopped functioning in the Shoreditch area at 7am on July 15 that year.
Council staff investigating the camera blackout went onto the roof of a building in Stanway Street on Hoxton’s Harman Estate and found a CCTV transmitter damaged, caused by a scaffold pole found nearby.
A video clip apparently taken at the time appeared on social media and was identified by council housing staff last month who reported it to police. The clip shows a man (pictured above) appearing to hit the transmitter with the pole.
