A SHOPKEEPER was assaulted and cash stolen from his shop in Whitechapel just after the end of the England football match.

Police believe that a group of about ten men went into the shop in Raven Row yesterday afternoon before assaulting the man and making off with cash.

The shopkeeper was treated for facial injuries.
