DETECTIVES are investigating a suspicious death of a 27-year-old man involving a car following a street altercation in East London.

They are looking into an incident at Old Street in Shoreditch when Jamie O’Sullivan (pictured) may have been involved in a fight shortly before being killed in an accident involving a BMW at 4.25am on Sunday (December 27).

His death as being treated as suspicious, Scotland Yard confirmed today (Tuesday).

Mr O’Sullivan, from Bethnal Green, died from head injuries, according to a post-mortem held yesterday (Monday) at Poplar mortuary.

Police are appealing today for witnesses who may have been in Old Street, at the junction with Singer Street, at around 2.45am the day after Boxing Day, or anyone with information, to call the incident room on 020-8345 1570, or anonymously to call Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.

Four men in their 20s and 30s were arrested near to the scene of the incident. One was arrested on suspicion of assault on the BMW driver and the others in connection with the original incident.

All are now bailed to return to police for further questioning in five weeks’ time.
