OFFICERS who tracked down and arrested a serial sex offender who was masturbating in bushes as children were on their way to school have been awarded.

Sgt Charlie Earwicker, PC Gareth Nash and PC Simon Lambert were all commended for their professionalism last Friday after they mounted extra patrols around Langdon Park School in Poplar in February last year to find and arrest the man who had previously been convicted for indecent exposure.

Chief Insp David Grainger said: "The officers had good local knowledge and put the needs of the public and the school first.
