EAST End politician Oona King has lost her bid to become the Labour Party’s candidate for London Mayor.
The former Bethnal Green and Bow MP was beaten by former Mayor of London ken Livingstone who has been picked by the party to stand against Boris Johnson in the next mayoral election in 2012.
Mr Livingstone polled 68.6 per cent of the votes, with Ms King on 31.4 per cent. Labour’s nomination was decided by London’s 35,000 party members and 38 London MPs, and the 400,000 voters belonging to the 14 unions and organisations affiliated to the London Labour party.
