Portugal and the UK scooped top prizes at this year’s Canary Wharf ice sculpting competition after impressing the crowds with their intricate designs.

Winning pair Pedro Mira and Niall Magee created an intricate snowboarder and won the doubles competition and the UK’s Jonathan Lloyd brought the trophy home in the singles speed sculpting contest.

The elated artist said after his scoop: “The friendship between the teams and the public atmosphere have been terrific.”

Visitors were able to marvel over the many works of art created in Montgomery Square from Thursday to Saturday and this year a special snow pit for children and master classes for teens and adults were put on.
