Almost 100 homes and businesses were hit by a power cut today after a fault on an underground cable.
Power was out in the area around Mudchute station on the Isle of Dogs from around 7am, with lights going back on in almost all of the area’s houses by around lunch time.
Peter Bowyer, a self-employed will writer who works from home, was one of the residents of Spindrist Avenue affected.
“I can’t work, so I’m doing a little bit of gardening at the moment”, he said.
A spokesperson for energy operator UK Power Networks confirmed the power cut, adding: “We understand how difficult it is being without electricity and apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused.”
