THE public relations chief at Tower Hamlets council in East London is expected to take up a temporary position to help stricken Haringey council recover after the recent Baby P’ scandal.

Head of communications Charles Skinner is expected to be drafted in to the north London authority for an emergency month-long secondment.

He is to crisis manage’ the aftermath of the tragic case of the 17-month-old who died at the hands of his mother, her boyfriend and their lodger in 2007.

The three were convicted in November of causing or allowing the death of the child.

Sources say Mr Skinner, who was head of communications at Haringey until 2007, would have ensured a full public apology from the authority’s head of Children’s Services, Sharon Shoesmith, had he still been employed at there.

Ms Shoesmith was eventually sacked by Haringey last year after a damning report into her department’s failings.
