THIEVES stole a camera worth 3,000 from a press photographer covering the opening of Brick Lane Curry festival yesterday (Wednesday).
Photojournalist Carmen Valino had just finished photographing the Curry Chef of the Year Competition when the thieves snatched her camera bag, containing a digital single lens reflex camera and lens from Khushbu restaurant on the corner of Whitechapel High Street and Osborne Street around 1.30pm yesterday.
CCTV from the restaurant showing two men stealing the bag has been handed to officers at Bethnal Green police station who are now investigating.
Miss Valino is appealing to anyone who is offered a Cannon 5D digital SLR to contact the police immediately.
