The Duke of York saw the science behind regeneration during a visit to an East End school today.

Prince Andrew dropped in to St Paul’s Way Trust School in Bow to check in on the progress of its ‘transformation project’, launched in 2006.

The school was one of the first to be rebuilt under the project, with students benefitting from the £40million building since it opened in January 2011.

Head teacher Grahame Price said: “It was a great honour to welcome His Royal Highness to our school. “It was an immensely proud day for students and everybody associated with the school”, he added.

The school’s science department has further big plans in the coming months, with television’s most recognisable scientist Professor Brian Cox set to host a summer school.
