Princess Anne gave a new Air Cadets squadron a royal seal of approval when she attended a lunch party they held to celebrate a collaboration with an ancient City of London livery company.
The 12 DF Air Cadets, based at the Bow Territorial Army Centre in Mile End Road, was only set up earlier this year, but the unit already boasts 70 members, aged between 13 and 20.
And the organisation’s members were thrilled when the squadron became officially affiliated with the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers – a 700-year-old guild that still exists today as a trade association and charity.
The collaboration will involve joint participation in various events, such as the cadets providing a guard of honour at the livery company’s formal functions.
The Princess Royal attended a celebration to mark the collaboration on November 8 and enjoyed a cup of tea with the cadets before lunch.
