ENVIRONMENTAL charity Thames 21 is calling on primary school pupils in Tower Hamlets and Newham to come up with a name and logo for an green project aimed at getting people to care for their waterways in the East End.

The three-year project has got the working title of 'The East London Community Waterways Initiative' and aims to encourage volunteers improve and care for the rivers and canals running through East London.

The charity wants primary school children to get creative and come up with a new name and logo for the project.

The winning name and logo design for the project will be announced in January 2010 and the winner will receive a 'Waterway Discovery Day' for their class and school, including a riverboat trip and the chance to use an underwater camera, a river boat trip.

The closing date for entries is Friday December 18 and further details are available on www.thames21.org.uk.
