Pupils in Limehouse give tins to food bank to feed the hungry

Pupils donated tins to a Food Bank as part of their Harvest Festival to help feed hungry people in the borough.
In an assembly at Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School in Limehouse, the whole school was told about the importance of Food Banks to the community and the difficult times many people are facing.
Joan Harte, head teacher at the school, said their donations provided 250 meals and helped 22 local families.
Ms Harte said: “We were overwhelmed by the response from our community to the appeal.
“Often harvest festivals donate tins for people abroad, but we thought we would look closer to home this time.
“We wanted to raise understanding and awareness that despite apparently coming out of the recession, there are people out there who are unfortunately suffering.”
