The Queen’s visit to HMS Lancaster has been cancelled after she was admitted to hospital.

Her Majesty was due to board the ship on Tuesday morning, but the engagement was called off after she was taken ill with gastroenteritis over the weekend.

She had also planned to dine with the ship’s commanding officer, Commander Steve Moorhouse, RN during her visit to the ship in West India Quay, Canary Wharf.

All of the Queen’s engagements this week were cancelled following her admittance to London’s King Edward VII’s Hospital in central London on Sunday.

Tuesday’s visit was due to be her second engagement in the East End in the space of a week, after she attended the Royal London Hospital on Wednesday.
