CONSTITUENTS are urged to submit questions for the independent candidates contesting the Poplar and Limehouse seat.

There are ten people fighting to become the first MP for the newly created constituency, including three independents, the Green party, English Democrats and UKIP.

They have arranged their own hustings on Tuesday May 4 to get their voices heard and to give voters a chance to quiz them.

The event starts at 7.30pm at the Cruising Association, Northey Street, Limehouse Basin and will be chaired by television presenter Willard Foxton.

Organisers said he has been given powers to cut the candidates off and is encouraged to force the candidates to answer the questions.

People can submit their questions in advance via on online form at http://jimthornton.org.uk/ask-your-hustings-questions-4th-may and voters can also ask questions from the floor on the night.

The full list of candidates for Poplar and Limehouse is Tim Archer, Conservative; Jim Fitzpatrick, Labour; Jonathan Fryer, Liberal Democrat; George Galloway, Respect; Mohammed Hoque, Independent; Wayne Lochner, UKIP; Kabir Mahmud, Independent; Andrew Osborne, English Democrats; Chris Smith, Green; Jim Thornton, Independent.
