TEENAGERS will be rapping the works of Shakespeare this week following Hollywood star Sir Ian McKellen's visit earlier this year.

The Lord of the Rings actor, together with Hip Hop artist Akala, dropped into the Limehouse Youth Club in February to launch the Hip Hop Shakespeare Company.

And this week around 15 kids will be using the skills they learnt from Sir Ian, who lives in Limehouse, to write their own lyrics and create their own video and studio digital productions.

The youth club in Limehouse Causeway is run by City Gateway, which mentors and trains young people who have become disengaged or excluded from education, and features a climbing wall, recording studio, computer suite, basketball nets and football pitch.
