Reading festival to come to Tower Hamlets

PUBLISHED: 13:50 29 October 2013

An annual reading festival is returning in November with a host of writers and performers coming to Tower Hamlets.

The Writeidea Festival, back for its fifth year, is taking place between November 15-17 at the Idea Store, Whitechapel Road, and will feature presentations from established authors such as Deborah Moggach and a speech from former BBC correspondent Andy Kershaw.

Other headline acts include east London spoken word group, Red Army Fiction, comedian and science enthusiast Robin Ince and poet Kate Fox.

Tower Hamlets Mayor, Lutfur Rahman, said: “The free festival is great way to inspire residents to take up reading with the full support of our Idea Stores.”

Cllr Rania Khan, cabinet member for culture, said: “Every year there is an interesting mix of talent and I encourage both active and non-active readers to make use of the festival.”
